Sunny South Cigarettes Darktown Prints: Lot consists of a great matched pair of very early comical paper litho advertising prints for Allen & Ginter Tobacco Co.’s Sunny South brand cigarettes. These are similar in look and style to the Currier & Ives Darktown prints of the same era. Has semi-gloss finish to paper, w/ original metal strips along top. Dated 1881, signs feature typical for period before and after comical stereotype images of black man and woman in boat, Attractive overall appearance, w/ some non-offensive light wear and background staining (C. 7.5+/8-); possibly slightly trimmed along bottom edges. Attractively framed and matted.
