Saint-Gaudens Medallion

$4,180.00

Important silver medallion designed and created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (famous sculptor and numismatic designer of the U.S. double eagle $20 gold coin-considered to this day the most beautiful American coin ever issued) as a gift to Maxfield Parrish. These medallions were created by Saint-Gaudens and given in 1906 as a thank you gift to participants who had taken part in a 1905 play that was given in his honor (Provenance: this piece was personally given to and owned by M. P. and was later purchased by Virginia Reed Colby, noted Parrish historian and author who bought it in 1975 from Maxfield Parrish, Jr.).
